Therapy that fits real life
At Thrive Therapy we offer Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Counselling to children, youth, adults, and families across Nova Scotia.
The Practice
From a four-year-old learning to hold a pencil to a seventy-year-old being able to drive again. We work on the small daily things that turn into the whole shape of a life.
First words and stutters. School-age literacy. Adults rebuilding language after a brain injury. Late-life swallowing and clarity. Communication is the bridge — we help you cross it.
Children, teens, adults, couples, families — and the messy parts in between. Anxiety, grief, identity, parenting, the things you can’t quite say at the kitchen table. We make space.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does an occupational therapist help with?
An occupational therapist helps children, adults, and older adults develop the skills and ability needed for daily activities and everyday life. At Thrive Therapy in Nova Scotia, occupational therapy may include assessment, treatment, and ongoing support for concerns such as brain injury, injury, sensory processing, executive functioning, return to work, falls prevention, and mental health. Every person receives a tailored plan based on their goals to help improve participation at home, school, work, and in the community.
How can speech and language therapy help?
Speech and language therapy supports children and adults who experience communication, speech, language, or swallowing difficulties. Our SLP therapists complete an assessment before creating an individualized treatment plan that may address language development, articulation, fluency, literacy, and social communication. Family members are encouraged to be involved so they can continue supporting progress outside therapy sessions at home and school.
What can I expect from counselling?
Our counselling services are available for children, youth, adults, couples, and families across Nova Scotia. Counselling focuses on mental health, personal growth, and helping people manage psychological problems, behavioural issues, anxiety, grief, relationships, parenting, and life transitions. Through a strong therapeutic relationship, therapists provide support that promotes positive change and helps clients build more satisfying lives.
Do I need a referral to book therapy services?
No. You do not need a referral to access Thrive Therapy’s services. New clients can book occupational therapy, speech therapy, or counselling directly. We also offer a free 15-minute consultation to help determine which therapy service is the best fit. Depending on your needs and location, appointments may be available in person, through online therapy, in the community, or at home across Nova Scotia, including the Halifax Region.
Who can benefit from Thrive Therapy services?
Thrive Therapy provides services for children, youth, adults, older adults, and families throughout Nova Scotia. Whether someone needs occupational therapy, speech and language support, or counselling, the team works with people of all ages to improve participation in life, school, work, and community activities.
